- Sunday Scripture Readings
- Reflection on the Scriptures has become
more and more a part of basic Christian spirituality. At times
we would like to return to the Sunday Scriptures at home, but
we do not have the missalette with us. At other times we may
be interested in seeing just what came before or immediately
after the reading for the day to gain more insights.
To encourage this encounter with
the Scriptures, we will be including in the bulletin the scripture
reading references for the current Sunday and the following Sunday.
In addition, in our on-line bulletin we will have the actual
links to the readings.

become a source of faith in my life?
Children: Why is faith so important in my life?

LITURGY BITS AND BYTES
Annunciation
On March 25 we celebrate the Feast of
the Annunciation. Nine months before the Nativity, we celebrate
the Annunciation of the Angel Gabriel to Mary, and Jesus
incarnation. Mary is intimately associated with this event, which
will make her the Mother of God, but it is the Word made flesh
who is at the center of the celebration. The incarnation sums
up Gods loving plan for us. The moment when the Son of
God became man in the womb of the Virgin Mary, the promise of
God to Israel came true and the hopes of all peoples were realized.
This is the feast that begins the whole process of redemption.
As a way of acknowledging this central mystery of our faith,
the liturgy of the day directs us to genuflect during the creed
at the words, By the power of the Holy Spirit, he was born
of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
