- Sunday Scripture Readings
- Reflection on the Scriptures has become
more and more a part of basic Christian spirituality. At times
we would like to return to the Sunday Scriptures at home, but
we do not have the missalette with us. At other times we may
be interested in seeing just what came before or immediately
after the reading for the day to gain more insights.
To encourage this encounter with
the Scriptures, we will be including in the bulletin the scripture
reading references for the current Sunday and the following Sunday.
In addition, in our on-line bulletin we will have the actual
links to the readings.

- QUESTIONS OF THE
WEEK
THIRD SUNDAY OF EASTER
If we are to follow the example of Peter in today's Gospel, we
will live the connection between love and sorrow. Sometimes the
path of love consists in recognizing the ways in which we have
hurt others.
-
- Adults: Is there someone in my family whom
I have offended and to whom I should offer an apology?
-
- Children: Do I understand that when I have made
a mistake, Jesus asks me to say I'm sorry?

BITS AND BYTES
To whom is the prayer at liturgy directed?
If you listen to the prayers, you will notice
that it is God the Father. If we think of ourselves as individuals
coming to worship, we lack the focus inherent in the liturgy
itself. If we think of ourselves as the gathered assembly, the
Body of Christ, come together to worship God in Christs
name, then it becomes understandable why the prayers are addressed
to the Father to whom Jesus also prayed. Listen to the prayers,
all addressed to the Father, all first person plural. (from Ministry Resource Update, December,
2006; Resource Publications)

RESPECT
LIFE
Prenatal testing for some 450 medical conditions
is now available. While prenatal screening may seem to give couples
more power, it often actually takes choices away. Societys
demand for physical perfection places enormous pressure on couples
to conform to the norm by aborting less-than-perfect
children. Rev. Tadeusz Pacholczyk, Ph.D. The Southern Cross,
