- QUESTIONS OF THE
WEEK
- ELEVENTH SUNDAY
IN
ORDINARY TIME
-
- Jesus proclamation,
Your sins are forgiven . . . Your faith has saved you
(Luke 7:48, 50), confirms Gods initiative. Through the
person of Jesus, God offers unconditional forgiveness beyond
our imaginings. This story is one of the most eloquent expressions
of the core message of Jesus ministry.
- Adults: Knowing the boundlessness of Gods
mercy, how will I respond?
Children: How does it feel to know that God
forgives my mistakes?
- HABITAT FOR HUMANITY
- Thanks to those who have
shared in this annual project for Athens Faith Build Coalition
of Habitat for Humanity. It has been an effort of our faith community.
Our gift of $3,085.87 has passed our parish goal. Let us rejoice
and be glad.
- DIOCESAN PARISH SHARE CAMPAIGN
- The returns of the pledge
cards for the DPSC are beginning to show some promise. We have
reached our diocesan goal. Now all of the additional monies collected
will be applied to the capital expenditures for the new roof
and the heating/air conditioning system. Please continue to return
your pledge cards.
- I am confident that as
you see more details for this project you will find it worthy
of your generous support.

VOCATION
CAMPS for middle and high school aged boys are being planned
by the Vocation Team from the Steubenville Diocese. Any male
youth entering grades 7-9 this fall and who are interested in
exploring the possibility of a priestly vocation are welcome
to attend our first vocation camp of the summer at Sacred Heart
Retreat House June 27-30. The camp will begin at 5:00
PM on the 27th and conclude at 11:00 AM on the 30th; the cost
is just $65 per participant.
Also, any male youth entering grades 10-12
this fall and who are interested in exploring the possibility
of a priestly vocation are welcome to attend the second vocation
camp of the summer at Sacred Heart Retreat House July 25-28.
The camp will begin at 5:00 PM on the 25th and conclude at 11:00
AM on the 28th. The cost is $65 per participant.
The camps will be filled with fun, games, sports,
movies, talks, discussion, prayer, swimming, hiking, cookouts,
a bonfire, snacks and very importantly, learning more about our
faith and what God may be inviting one to do with his life. The
main goal is to introduce a person more fully to the vocation
of priesthood. Anyone is welcome who is looking for a fun and
faith-filled time and also, who is open to learning about these
awesome vocations.
You can express your interest and save a spot
in the camp by calling the Office of Vocations at 740-282-0646
or email at diosteubhof@sbcglobal.net. Also, if you have any
questions or want more specific information, please do not hesitate
to call. Once we have received a persons reservation, we
will send the information packet needed for the camp. LITURGY BITS AND BYTES
Full Active
Full, active participation means entering into
the movement of the liturgy itself. Liturgy wants to transform
us into the image of Gods Son. If we hold ourselves back,
we hinder the action of Gods grace within us. If we try
to maintain our separation from our brothers and sisters, we
resist Gods efforts to form us into the one Body of Christ.
If we enter into the action of the liturgy, then God can shape
our minds and hearts according to the divine will. Empowered
by Gods grace, we who have been transformed can be used
by God to transform our world. That is the ultimate goal of the
liturgical renewalto transform the world for Christ. Liturgy
leads to mission and those who share in Christs sacrificial
worship are led to share in his sacrificial life and love in
the world.
