- Sunday Scripture Readings
- Reflection on the Scriptures has become
more and more a part of basic Christian spirituality. At times
we would like to return to the Sunday Scriptures at home, but
we do not have the missalette with us. At other times we may
be interested in seeing just what came before or immediately
after the reading for the day to gain more insights.
To encourage this encounter with
the Scriptures, we will be including in the bulletin the scripture
reading references for the current Sunday and the following Sunday.
In addition, in our on-line bulletin we will have the actual
links to the readings.

- QUESTIONS OF THE
WEEK
- Twenty-Eighth
Sunday of Ordinary Time
-
- We can identify with the second group of guests gathered
from the highways and the byways. We, with all of our successes
and failures, have received an invitation to come to Gods
banquet.
Adults: What garment do I need to clean
or iron this week to better prepare to participate in the banquet
of God, the Eucharist?
Children: How do I prepare myself for the Sunday
Mass?
WORLD MISSION
SUNDAY
October 18/19, 2008
Next weekend, Pope Benedict XVI calls every
Catholic in the world to celebrate our vocation to be missionary.
Its World Mission Sunday!
As Catholics around the world -- here at home
and in the Missions -- gather at the Eucharist around the table
of the Lord, we are to pray for the Churchs worldwide missionary
work. We pray for those awaiting the Good News of
our Lords great love for us and for the missionaries who
offer the poor and suffering the light of Christ. And we are
to offer financial help through the Society for the Propagation
of the Faith for more than 1,150 dioceses in Asia, Africa, Latin
America and the Pacific Islands. RESPECT LIFE
A society unable to accept its suffering members
and incapable of helping to share their suffering and to bear
it inwardly through compassion is a cruel and inhuman
society.
To suffer with the other and for others; to suffer
for the sake of truth and justice; to suffer out of love and
in order to become a person who truly lovesthese are fundamental
elements of humanity, and to abandon them would destroy man himself.
--Pope Benedict XVI, Spe Salvi

FAITH FORMATION (PFF) UPDATE
Progress continues on implementing the vision
for catechesis put forth by the PFF committee, a diverse 20-member
group that worked together over the past few years to discern
how to apply the National Directory for Catechesis in our parishes.
To support the part of that vision that calls
for a stronger emphasis on adult faith formation (AFF) and to
help connect or integrate all parish activities that contribute
to our ongoing formation, Greg Kremer has been
appointed the AFF leader and the PFF Committee coordinator. Plans
are underway for AFF activities related to the Year of St. Paul. OUS

Communion Song II
This
song begins when the priest receives the Body and Blood of Christ
and continues until all have received. This is to unify the action
of communion. It is not supposed to be the priests communion
and then the peoples communion, but the communion of all
the Body of Christ together.
